In order to promote wellness throughout the resident population, a Wellness Center is staffed seven days a week. The staff plays a vital role in the day-to-day life of residents by providing a wide range of supportive services designed to:
- Monitors and assesses residents’ health as needed
- Provides first aid and 24-hour emergency assistance
- Keeps residents and their families informed about relevant health-related issues
- Encourages residents in their efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle
- Communicates medical concerns to residents, family members or appropriate emergency contacts
- Visits residents in their apartments upon request when there is an illness
Exercise - Research studies have clearly shown that seniors who exercise have a higher quality of life for a longer period of time and are able to more easily perform the activities of daily living. Sittercise, a low intensity aerobics class, is offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings through the services of a licensed exercise physiologist.
Health Forums - Health forums are held several times each year, featuring guest speakers who discuss wellness topics on a broad range of topics of interest to senior adults.
Exercise Room - Residents at King’s Bridge may enjoy the exercise equipment in our Exercise Room. Treadmills, stationary cycles and rowing machines are provided.
Electronic Magnifier - King’s Bridge has a ClearView electronic magnifier, which uses closed circuit TV technology to enlarge printed materials for people who can no longer comfortably use glasses to read regular size print. The magnifier enables the vision impaired to read independently again, write letters, fill out forms and checks.
Foot Care - A pedicurist is available for pedicures on a routine basis in residents’ apartments.
Walking Club - This group meets every afternoon for walking, indoors in the Pavilion. People of all fitness levels enjoy walking together to music in a climate controlled atmosphere.
