Enhance
Your Social Life
In order to
promote a healthy, active lifestyle and a sense of community,
Kings Bridge plans a wide variety of activities in which to
participate. New residents will find that the transition into
their new home is made easier if they involve themselves in a
group such as an exercise class or our mixed chorus. These
activities provide a great way to meet new neighbors.
In addition
to regular activities, special entertainment, trips, and events
are planned as well. The dates and times of all regular and
special activities are published in the monthly Activities
Calendar and in the weekly newsletter, The Crest.
General
Activities
- Ladies'
Brunch & Men's Breakfast - The ladies of
King's Bridge enjoy a quarterly Ladies' Brunch and the
men meet monthly for breakfast and fellowship. Both
events usually feature a guest speaker or other special
entertainment.
- Music
Makers - Our informal singing group meets weekly
for singing enjoyment and gives special performances
during the year.
- Game
Rooms - King's Bridge offers two game
rooms for residents to enjoy. Because we have a
very active group of bridge players, one of our
lounges is setup with card tables and chairs. A
pool table is also available for billiards fun.

- Craft
Room - We have a dedicated craft room complete
with kiln for those who like to work with ceramics or
pottery. Other projects have included making decorations
for holidays and special events, such as Hawaiian Day and
Halloween.
- VIP
(Visually Impaired Persons) Reading Group - For
those with vision problems, we offer a weekly reading
group, lead by one of our residents, who reads a variety
of selections, from the daily newspaper to poetry.
- Book
Discussion Group - If you love to read, you will
want to join our book discussion group. Residents read a
book that has been mutually agreed upon and then meet
monthly to discuss it.
- Excursions
- We regularly schedule interesting outings. Some, such
as viewing an IMAX film at Fernbank Museum of Natural
History or a jaunt to historic Madison, Georgia for lunch
are a couple of hours in duration. Others are all-day
excursions, including Springtime at Callaway Gardens and
our Fall Apple and Leaf trip to the North Georgia
Mountains. Transportation for most of these excursions is
provided by our own 22-passenger bus. For lengthy trips,
we arrange for a 47-passenger luxury coach.
- Entertainment
and Speakers - We schedule musical entertainment
on a weekly basis, which includes pianists, guitarists,
soloists and ensembles, who perform a variety of music.
Residents enjoy travel slide shows and special guests who
speak on various topics, from history to dream
interpretation, to how to improve your memory.
- Volunteer
Opportunity - Continue your volunteer work when
you move to King's Bridge. We participate in monthly
projects for Special Olympics, which usually involve
assembling supplies the organization needs for
competition.
Religious
Actvities
- Bible
Study - Bible study is held Tuesday afternoons
and Sunday mornings.
- Communion
- Catholic Communion and Episcopal Communion are held
monthly by clergy from area churches.
- Vespers
Service - Vespers Service is held each Sunday
afternoon. These services are led by ministers from the
community.
- Chaplain
- Our resident chaplain is available for private
counseling or Holy Communion.
Wellness
Activities
- Exercise
- Sittercise, a low-intensity aerobics class, is
offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and Muscle
Works, a workout with light weights is offered on
Mondays and Fridays.

- Health
Forums - Health forums are normally held several
monthly. These forums feature guests speakers who discuss
wellness topics of interest to the senior adult.
- VIP
(Visually Impaired Persons) Support Group - A
support group meets twice monthly for those with vision
problems, including macular degeneration, cataracts,
glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, as well as other
conditions. Members are able to share their experiences
with others in the group. Education and sharing helpful
information is a priority of this group.
- Walking
Club - This group is for people of all fitness
levels who enjoy walking. The group meets regularly to
walk at interesting local sites, including the campus of
Emory University and Stone Mountain Park.
