Stay Healthy at King's
Bridge
In order to promote wellness
throughout the resident population, a Wellness Clinic is staffed
seven days a week. The staff plays a vital role in the day-to-day
life of residents by providing a wide range of supportive
services designed to:
- monitor and assess
residents' healthcare as needed
- provide emergency
assistance
- keep residents informed
about relevant health-related issues
- maintain a link with
residents' healthcare providers
- provide specific
services as requested by residents' physicians
- encourage residents in
their efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle
- deliver assistance
services as requested by residents.
- Exercise
- Research studies have clearly shown that seniors who
exercise have a higher quality of life for a longer
period of time and are able to more easily perform the
activities of daily living. To keep our residents
flexible and strong, we offer four exercise classes per
week. Classes are conducted by an exercise physiologist.
Sittercise, a low-intensity aerobics class, is offered on
Tuesdays and Thursdays; and Muscle Works, a workout with
light weights is offered on Mondays and Fridays.
- Health Forums
- Health forums are normally held several times monthly.
These forums feature guests speakers who discuss wellness
topics of interest to the senior adult.
- Exercise
Equipment - Residents of King's Bridge may enjoy
the exercise equipment in our Exercise Room. Equipment
includes treadmills, stationary cycles and rowing
machines.
- Electronic
Magnifier - King's Bridge has a ClearView
electronic magnifier, a system using closed-circuit TV
technology to enlarge printed materials for people who
can no longer comfortably use glasses or special lenses
to read regular size print. The ClearView
magnifier enables the vision impaired to read
independently again, write letters, fill out forms and
checks, and perform other reading activities that have
been lost due to low vision. The system is available for
use in the Library during regular operating hours.
- Foot Care
- A pedicurist is available for pedicures twice monthly.
- Massage Therapy
- A licensed massage therapist will come to your
apartment at your convenience.
- Hearing Clinic
- An Audiologist is availible for hearing screenings on a
quarterly basis as well as help residents with hearing
aids, cleaning and batteries.
- VIP (Visually
Impaired Persons) Support Group - A support group
meets twice monthly for those with vision problems,
including macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma,
diabetic retinopathy, as well as other conditions.
Members are able to share their experiences with others
in the group. Education and sharing helpful information
is a priority of this group.
- Walking Club
- This group is for people of all fitness levels who
enjoy walking. The group meets regularly to walk at
interesting local sites, including the campus of Emory
University and Stone Mountain Park.
